Last week, the whole family went to get flu shots.

My little girl, who’s 8, has always been terrified of vaccines.

For days leading up to the appointment, she kept talking about the "dreaded day" she'd have to face the needle. Her 5-year-old brother, on the other hand, wasn’t fazed at all—he was just excited about the cookie he'd get afterward.

As the week ticked by, the big day finally arrived. Even though we go through this routine every year, I carefully planned how to support my daughter—what we’d focus on, where she’d look. Deep down, I braced myself for tears and drama, taking a deep breath to stay calm.

Then, the moment of truth came—and my brave girl completely surprised me. “This year, I’ll go first!” she declared.

She climbed onto my lap, trembling, but took a deep breath and got the vaccine like a true champ.

"That’s it, my love! It’s over!" I cheered."Until next year, you mean," she replied with a smile and an accusing tone.

I was so proud of her. She faced her fear head-on and handled it beautifully. While we were chatting, her little brother had already gotten his shot—so quickly I barely noticed!

“Now, you just need to wait 10 minutes before leaving,” the nurse said.“

Like after a missile attack?” my daughter asked matter-of-factly, as though it were a perfectly normal question.

"Exactly! You’re so clever," the nurse replied.

“Please wait 10 minutes, just Like after a missile attack!”
